Dear Brothers and Sisters,

May you have peace and blessings during this time of Lent.

The fear and worry we have experienced in these last days, due to the bomb threats at the Salvadoran Lutheran Synod and the Concordia Lutheran Church, cannot compare to the blessings and joy we have felt through your expressions of solidarity and love. 

We have remembered the beatitudes of our Lord Jesus Christ when he said: “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.  Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5: 10-12).
 
We ask that you continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we anxiously await the results of the election that will take place on Sunday, March 21st.  Here in the church, we have agreed to remain in constant contact with one another in order to be watchful and attentive. We have taken security measures, which have altered our daily routine.  

In the meantime, we find ourselves very nervous in regard to the tense social and political situation in which we live.  Please, continue to pray for us; and our prayer is that God would reward you for strengthening us spiritually. If it is necessary after the elections, we will ask for manifestations of your solidarity. With fraternal love,

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
 
Paz y bendiciones para ustedes en este tiempo de cuaresma.
 
El temor y la preocupación que hemos pasado los últimos días, por las amenazas de colocar una bomba en el edificio de las Oficinas del Obispado Luterano Salvadoreño y en la Iglesia Luterana La Concordia, no son comparables con la bendición y el gozo que hemos recibido por las manifestaciones de solidaridad y amor de todos ustedes.
 
Hemos recordado las bienaventuranzas de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, cuando El dice: “Dichosos los que sufren persecución por hacer lo que Dios exige, pues el reino de Dios les pertenece. Dichosos ustedes, cuando la gente los insulte y los maltrate, y cuando por causa mía los ataquen con toda clase de mentiras. Alégrense, estén contentos, porque van a recibir un gran premio en el cielo; pues así también persiguieron a los profetas que vivieron antes que ustedes.” (San Mateo 5: 10-12).
 
Les pedimos a ustedes mantenernos en sus pensamientos y oraciones; vamos a esperar con inquietud los resultados de las elecciones presidenciales que se celebran el próximo domingo 21 de marzo.  En la Iglesia, nos hemos declarado en reunión permanente por la emergencia y así nos encontramos vigilantes y atentos. Estamos tomando medidas de seguridad, cambiando rutinas acostumbradas.
 
Por el momento nos encontramos muy nerviosos (as) por la situación social y política tensa en la que estamos viviendo. Por favor, sigan orando por nosotros (as) y que Dios les recompense por fortalecernos espiritualmente.
 
Después de las elecciones si fuera necesario, vamos a solicitarles algunas expresiones de solidaridad. Con cariño fraternal,
